Roger Fenton exhibited a series of views taken on his tour of North Wales at the Photographic Society of London in 1858. Cat. no. 552 was entitled 'The Miner's Bridge on the Llugwy, North Wales' (see R. Taylor 2002, p. 335). There are two recorded versions of this subject, the view of the bridge offered here and a view of the bridge from the opposite direction, a print of which is in the collection of The Cleveland Museum of Art; see T.E. Hinton 1996. p. 155.
