Catalogue Note

An early 19th century copy after Juel's original which was painted in 1791 to comemmorate his marriage to Rosine Døschel, the daughter of the head gardener at Bernstorff, in 1790 (see E. Poulsen, Jens Juel Katalog, Copenhagen 1991, vol. I, pp. 155-6, cat. no. 534, reproduced vol. II, fig. 534).
