Follower of Francesco Albani

A 17th century derivation based on Albani's original design, of which there are two main versions. The first was commissioned by Cardinal Scipione Borghese to decorate the Villa Borghese in Rome. The second, which is closest in composition to the present picture, was commisioned by Ferdinando Gonzaga for the Villa Favorita in Mantua. For a discussion of both see C.
