Catalogue Note

Although traditionally ascribed to Margherita Caffi, an attribution also endorsed by Prof.ssa. Mina Gregori (a copy of whose letter accompanies this lot), this still life is more likely attributable to Mezzadri, by comparison with other works by the artist (see G. & U. Bocchi, Naturalia, Turin 1992, pp. 96-7, figs. 35-37).
