Catalogue Note

The style of this painting is strongly indebted to the work of Antonio Vázquez, who worked in Valladolid during the first half of the 16th Century. His work reflects the influence of Pedro Berruguete, Juan de Borgoña and Juan Correa de Vivar. Compare the present painting, for example, with a triptych by Vázquez sold in London, Christie's, 23 April 1993, lot 42.
