Catalogue Note

The present painting is representative of Oudry’s early style. The red currants, in particular, are very close in style to those depicted in the still life dated 1712 in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Agen (see the catalogue of the exhibition J.-B.-Oudry, Paris, Grand Palais, 1982-1983, cat.1, reproduced in color p. 7).
