* Nicolas Lancret Paris 1690 - 1743

We are grateful to Mary Tavener Holmes who has seen the present painting and confirms it to be by Lancret. She also notes that another version of the present painting exists, with differences, and was formerly in the Fairfax-Murray collection. 

The present painting is accompanied by a photograph certificate from Alexandre Ananoff stating that the present work is by Lancret.
