The sitter was the first wife of Thomas Turner (1749-1809), proprietor of the Caughley Porcelain Manufactory, Shropshire. A portrait of Thomas Turner by Abbott is in the collection of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, Ironbridge, Shropshire.
