We are grateful to Sylvie Béguin for bringing to our attention a drawing of Venus and Cupid by an artist working in the style of Primaticcio, in the collection of the Louvre, that relates closely to the present work (for illustration see, Primatice. Maître de Fontainebleau, exhibition catalogue, Louvre, Paris, September 22, 2004 - January 3, 2005, no. 257, p.461).
