Catalogue Note

This painting almost certainly belonged to a series depicting the months, as the inscription in the upper left corner suggests. The scene of the Flight into Egypt would make chronological sense for the month of February, and one would assume that the remaining months may also have illustrated scenes from the Life and Passion of Christ.
