Catalogue Note

Dionys Verburg, following his fellow townsmen Gerrit Battem (c.1636-1684) and Claes Jansz. van der Willigen (c.1630-1676), painted mainly panoramic river landscapes such as the present one. In composition this is very similar to A panoramic river landscape in the Instituut Collectie Nederland, RIjswijk (inv. no. NK2395).
