We are grateful to Fred G. Meijer for suggesting an attribution to Pieter de Molijn on the basis of a photograph. This painting can be compared with another painting, representing A Peasant family carrying baskets, also attributed to the artist which was sold, London, Christie's, 16 April 1999, lot 35.
