Catalogue Note
Cornelia was the daughter of Hendrik Reynst, the director of the East-India Company (V.O.C.) and member of the Amsterdam city council. She married Hendrik van der Does, burgomaster of Gorinchem, in 1644. The pendant to this portrait, of her husband, was formerly in the Musée Hyacinthe Rigaud, Perpignan, until recently sold. Their portraits were also painted in 1665 by Pieter Nason (c.1612-1690).
