  • bears numbering and inscriptions, verso: No 14; la susanna de Mulian, and Bijde Italiaanen
    bears illegible inscription in red chalk, recto, lower right of
    pen and brown ink and wash, over traces of black chalk

Acquired in 1898 by Dr Alfred Ritter von Wurzbach-Tannenberg (L.2587, and L.203, with his date of acquisition);

Catalogue Note

Although the clear, linear pen-work used to describe the figures in this drawing differs from the freer style usually associated with Pozzoserrato, the background details are more loosely drawn, and overall the technique may be compared to an early drawing of the Virgin Mary, after Veronese, in the National Museum, Warsaw (see T. Gerszi, 'The Draughtsmanship of Lodewijk Toeput,' Master Drawings, vol. XXX, no.4, 1992, p. 370, reproduced, Figure 3).
