Armando (b. 1929)

Armando’s intervention in Zes x Blauw breaks through the confines of painting; nailing the painted tinplates on chipwood in a skilled, rhythmical manner that, rather than contaminating or destroying the form, accentuates, indeed creates the form, unlocking the presence. It is never the concrete, visible aggression he wishes to convey. Instead, Armando is concerned with the ‘interior’, abstract reality of existence. Judging by the way in which Armando handles his materials one would hardly call it routine. And yet it is more than obvious that he has, over the years, fully mastered the hard industrial materials.
