Catalogue Note

The theme of Jonas and the Whale should not be interpreted only as a biblical story. To him the elements water, earth, sun, the woman, the mother and the whale are symbols that belong to the birth and strength of life. These elements are used frequently in his work; he made eight versions of the Jonas and the Whale theme.
