Catalogue Note
This impressive work show three of the famous 'Big Class yachts' rounding the famous land mark on the Isle of Wight.
King Edward VII's yacht Britiannia began her extraordinary career on 20th April 1893 measuring 157 feet from main boom to bowsprit with a top mast of 120 feet.
Westward was designed and built 17 years later in 1910 by the Herreshoff manufacturing company of Rhode Island and measurde 135 in length with a displacement of 328 tonnes.
Cicely was the smallest of the three vessels, built in 1903 with a displacement of 263 tonnes.
