Catalogue Note
George IV arrived at Leith on 14th August 1822. The trip was masterminded by Sir Walter Scott, and was a resounding success. The King amused his subjects by adorning his considerable bulk in full Highland dress, and left his northern kingdom on 29th August, impressed and gratified.
