Catalogue Note

The colour pink is rare in diamonds and, of the many subtle shades of colour encountered, it is perhaps the most enigmatic and beautiful.  Very few large pink diamonds have been discovered to this day. Some of the more famous are the Agra, which weighs 32.24 carats; the Darya-I-nur (Sea of Light), estimated to weigh between 175 and 195 carats, and part of the crown jewels of Iran; and the Williamson Pink, a brilliant-cut stone weighing 23.60 carats, which was presented to Her Majesty  Queen Elizabeth II – then Princess Elizabeth – in 1947 as a wedding present.

This 10.31carat(???) pink stone is not only large but it is also certified by the GIA as Fancy Vivid; a colour with light to medium tone and very high saturation.  It is this high level of saturation which places such diamonds within the top level of fancy colour grading, and gives this splendid diamond its striking colour.  A diamond which possesses the combination of this colour and size is truly a rare and exceptional stone.
