Catalogue Note

Mappings: shared histories was an exhibition that was organised as part of the celebrations of fifty years of India's independance. Artists from both India and Pakistan were invited to participate and the theme of the exhibition focused on the concerns of national identity. Nalini Malani's work is created around a white cotton quilt cover that her grandmother brought from Karachi at the time of partition in 1947.
