Charles Waltner (1846-1925) was a renowned French engraver who contributed illustrations to the Gazette des Beaux-Arts and other journals from 1875-1897. It is possible that the dedication in this drawing is a reference to a printing project on which Redon and Waltner were engaged in 1912.
