Catalogue Note

Léger's work is particularly well suited to being transformed into tapestry, which highlights strong and contrasting compositions. Gisèle Brivet's atelier, one of the finest in Aubusson, was chosen by Georges Bauquier to realize a select group of Léger's paintings in tapestry, under the auspices of the Léger Museum in Biot. The present work is a unique composition and was exhibited in the museum in 1994.
