A RARE AND UNUSUAL LIMITED EDITION PLATINUM WRISTWATCH WITH POWER RESERVE, BIG DATE, MONTH AND CORRESPONDING ZODIAC INDICATION, F.P. Journe, "OCTA ZODIAQUE", NO. 125/150, CIRCA 2004

rhodium plated lever movement with fausses cotes decoration, mono-metallic four-arm balance, adjusted to 5 positions, 22k gold off-center guilloche rotor engraved with the logo of F. P. Journe, silvered chapter ring with Roman numberals and outer minute track, inner sunk dial in slate-grey, aperture for big date display below 11 and 12, fan-form sector next to 9 for 120-hour power reserve indication, subsidiary slate-grey sunk dial for constant seconds between 4 and 5, blued steel Journe style hands, month and corresponding zodiac indicated at 12 on a rotating ring around the chapter ring, large polished platinum circular case with down-turned lugs, water-resistant type sapphire crystal display back secured by 6 screws, case back further engraved "Zodiaque 125/150-Z", case, dial and movement signed, with a platinum F. P. Journe buckle.      

This rare and unusual platinum wristwatch with zodiac indication was produced by F. P. Journe in a limited series of only 150 pieces and the present example being offered at auction is numbered 125. Unlike most of the calendar wristwatches with phases of the moon, this unusual "Octa Zodiaque" allows the user to admire the celestial bodies by knowing the changes of zodiac, at the same time provides a more practical function which is the month indication. It is also interesting to note that the "Octa Zodiaque" is only available in platinum.

Francois-Paul Journe was dedicated to the production of high quality hand-finished watches from leaving college and was titled a Master watchmaker at the age of 20.
