1901 Pittsburgh Pirates Team Large Studio Photograph

bidding is closed

Description

  • Image measures: 12 1/2 in. by 16 1/2 in.
In 1900, the Pirates picked up star players from the defunct Louisville Colonels club, including greats like Honus Wagner and Fred Clarke (who also served as the team's manager from 1900 to 1915), triggering a long string of pennants. The 1901-1903 Pirates completely dominated the National League, in part because they lost few star players to the rival upstart American League. This large original studio photograph features the 1901 NL Champion Pittsburgh Pirates team posed in their uniforms.  It’s condition and clarity are such that you feel that you’re standing in the same room with Honus Wagner, Jack Chesbro, Deacon Phillippe, Fred Clarke and company. Mounted on photo board, it bears the photographer’s marking “D’Rosser copyright 1901”. Near mint condition. Framed.
