Description

  • length over handles 18in. (45.8cm)
shaped oval and indented at each end, raised on four paw and ball feet headed by boldly-modeled snarling lion masks, engraved on both sides with arms in rococo cartouche, repeated on the cover, the leaf and scroll handles rising from strapwork cartouches centered by lions' heads with protruding tongues, stepped domed cover with hoop finial formed as scrolls issuing from lion masks, mounted on an elongated cartouche of strapwork and shells with two profile lion heads, fully marked on base and cover
