Catalogue Note
Waldershare Park was built in Sibertwold, East Kent, in 1700 by the Sir Henry Furnese, Earl of Guilford (1658-1712), based on designs by Inigo Jones (1573-1652). It was said to be a spacious and magnificent structure, decorated with the latest most elegant style, and adorned with the finest and rarest works of art. The surrounding park of seven hundred acres was laid out in a series of picturesque avenues, with wooded areas stocked with deer.
