Catalogue Note

Although best known for his vivant portraits of the beau monde, Troubetzkoy created a number of sensitive animal studies. The present model appears to be a study, perhaps for his Seated Bloodhound Bitch, a bronze cast of which was sold in these rooms on 2nd November, 2001.
