  • The Innocence of Father Brown. Cassell, 1911
8vo, first edition, original red cloth with gilt lettering, frontispiece and seven plates by Sydney Seymour Lucas, loosely inserted is a cut out of the front panel of the dust-jacket, which replicates in colour the image of “Father Brown bent over the prostate comic policeman” that is the plate facing p.114, few unobtrusive damp spots, a little dye from the front boards transferred onto front endpaper, slight wear to extremities of boards, generally in excellent, fresh condition; together with: The Wisdom of Father Brown, Cassell, 1914, 8vo, first edition, original blue cloth with gilt lettering, coloured frontispiece by Sydney Seymour Lucas,  few unobtrusive damp spots, spine slightly faded, gilt faded, generally very nice copy, inserted loosely a press cutting from 22 October 1914, and a review of the book “Published To-day” by R. Ellis Roberts (“This second dozen of tales is of varied merit. One or two are real little masterpieces, not only of ingenious unravelling of incident, but of careful insight into character”) (2)
