bidding is closed

Catalogue Note
It is extremely rare to find a flambe glazed vase of this form with the mark and period of Qianlong. The present vase is particularly striking in its vivid contrasting glaze colors. Compare a dark red flambe vase of similar form and larger size sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong 2nd May 1995, lot 89; and one of similar size in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, published in Rose Kerr, Chinese Ceramics: Porcelain of the Qing Dynasty 1644-1911, London, 1986, pl. 3. Another fine example was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 31st October 2004, lot 209.
