Catalogue Note

Painted circa 1830.

This is an early work which reflects the anecdotal style of painters such as Marne and Leprince. Dupre painted very few urban subjects. Amongst them he painted a view of the Pont Saint Nicolas in Paris (M.M.Aubrun, Catalogue Raisonne, 1974, no.2) and a view of the Isle d'Adam (M.M.Aubrun, Supplement to the Catalogue Raisonne, 1982, no.1).

We are grateful to Madame Aubrun for her help in cataloguing this lot.
