Catalogue Note

We are grateful to Mme. Renée Loche who, based on photographs, has confirmed the present painting to be by Agasse.  She also notes that the work was painted in Geneva around 1794-1795. 

Another version of the same subject, slightly larger in size,  is in a private collection.
