After apprenticing under Frank Lloyd Wright from I907-1909, Albert McArthur opened an architecural firm in Chicago in 1912, and relocated his practice to Phoeniz in 1925. While in Phoenix, McArthur was hired as the primary architect for the Arizona Biltmore Hotel commission in the late 1920s. McArthur collaborated with his former mentor, Frank Lloyd Wright, who served as a consultant on the project, and with his brother Warren, who designed all of the interior furnishings, including tubular-steel and wrought-iron furniture for the hotel's patios, terraces and bedrooms. The famed hotel opened its doors to the public in November of 1929.
