This impressive chest of drawers, considered to be Gustav Stickley's most important bedroom cabinet, was acquired by members of Byrdcliffe in Woodstock, New York around 1902. The form anticipates a few known large-scaled chests produced by this utopian artist colony in 1904, which exhibit similar recessed panels.
