Description

  • Gustav Stickley
  • A Rare Table
  • with firm's red decal
  • oak with the original ebonized finish
  • executed by the Craftsman Workshops of Gustav Stickley, Eastwood, NY

Catalogue Note

The rounded top edges, ebonized finish and tapered legs of this table are synonymous with the design repertoire of Harvey Ellis when he worked for Gustav Stickley in 1903.  This is the only known example of this form.  The table's shaped apron is related to two known examples of a Stickley hinged swivel-top games table (see Christie's New York, December 14, 1996, lot 379 and David Rago Auctions, Inc., Lambertville, NJ, December 13, 1998, lot 758).
