Catalogue Note

Emile-André Boisseaux was born in Varzy (Burgundy) and studied with Dumont and Bonnassieux at the École des Beaux-Arts. He exhibited consistently at the Paris Salon from 1870. His favoured subjects, a mixture of genre, patriotism and love, are representative of the most popular themes of the late nineteenth century.
