Catalogue Note
Isaac Pocock was the son of the famous marine painter, Nicholas Pocock. He studied under both Romney and Beechey, and exhibited a number of works at the Royal Academy. After inheriting property from his uncle in 1818 he devoted himself to drama, producing a large number of plays and musical farces. In 1812 he married Louisa, daughter of Henry Hime of Liverpool. They had one son and three daughters.
