Catalogue Note
The sitter was the daughter of Alexander Burnett, Archbishop of St Andrews. She married Alexander, 7th Lord Elphinstone on 10th September 1667. He died aged 22 and the sitter subsequently married Patrick Murray, 3rd Lord Elibank, before 1677.
