Catalogue Note
'Delighted with the paintings by Constable and Turner... he wrote on his return that he hoped to make his pictures 'the better for having seen them'. He seemed to have achieved this end, in his own view at least, with a Worcestershire Severn scene 'Sabrina's Stream', which he called 'Severn Side'. When the canvas was in its frame, and Leader had improved it, he was so pleased that he said he would 'not object... (to it)... hanging alongside a Constable' (Ruth Wood, Benjamin Williams Leader RA 1831-1923, His Life and Paintings, 1998, pg. 77).
