Catalogue Note

This drawing bears a label on the reverse of the frame with the inscription: Environs de Nice 1838.  The dating is plausible, as Huet is known to have spent two years in the area, in 1838-9.  Another watercolour by the artist of the same view was sold, London, Christie's, 17 March 1983, lot 35.
