Catalogue Note
In the summer of 1880 Johannes Bosboom and his wife spent a couple of weeks in the city of Hoorn. This summer was a peak in Bosboom's artistic career. According to his wife, Bosboom would spend entire days in the city making studies of houses, gates, streets, alleys and the Doelenplein. The present lot was probably drawn during this summer. The watercolour was probably added later, in 1883.
