This drawing can be dated to circa 1809-10. The artist also made a second, somewhat larger version of this view, still in the van Regteren Altena collection, which differs only in the positioning of the shadows (see exhibition catalogue, 's Hertogenbosch 1977, p. 80, cat. no. 26, reproduced).
