Attributed to Gillis van Coninxloo III Antwerp 1544 - 1607 Amsterdam

Normally, the better the drawing, the easier it is to attribute, but in the case of Flemish wooded landscapes of around 1600 the various hands at work can often be very difficult to separate, even in the case of good quality drawings such as this.  In addition to the clear similarities with the work of Coninxloo, we also see here reminiscences of the styles of both David Vinckboons and Denijs van Alsloot in his freer moments.
