Catalogue Note

The view here is likely from the Old Inspiration Point, or ‘Mount Beatitude,’ the spot where members of the Mariposa Battalion first saw the Valley in 1851.  The present Inspiration Point is an outlook on the old Wewoka Road (cf. Browning, op. cit., pp. 9, 66, and 105).
