Platinum, Diamond and Sapphire Jardiniere Brooch Given to Katharine Hepburn by Howard Hughes

Circa 1930, designed in the form of a jardiniere, set with 104 old-European, round and single-cut diamonds, 2 triangular-shaped diamonds, and 5 baguette diamonds, the total diamond weight approximately 5.25 carats, accented by 10 carved-sapphire "leaves," mounted in platinum and signed Trabert & Hoeffer, Mauboussin.

Howard Hughes gave this brooch to Miss Hepburn during their courtship, which she wore casually. Miss Hepburn also wore it in the 1945 film (with co-star Spencer Tracy) "Without Love."
