Catalogue Note

Cecil Beaton is best known as a photographer for British and American Vogue and as a set and costume designer for plays and films including "My Fair Lady" and "Gigi." Beaton and Katharine Hepburn knew each other well, and he photographed her as early as 1934. The two later worked together on the Broadway show Coco in 1970.
