Charles Morris Young

A native of Pennsylvania, Charles Morris Young was known for his snowy landscapes and hunting scenes of Philadelphia’s Main Line. He began his artistic training with Thomas Eakins at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts and later traveled to France where he was enrolled in the Academie Colarossi, Paris.  While in France, Young visited Giverny, the small town north west of Paris forever immortalized in Claude Monet’s Water Lily series.

Upon his return to Pennsylvania, Young received commissions from various local patrons to paint the Radnor, Rosetree, and Andrew’s Bridge Hunts (see the following ten lots for further examples of his works).
