of pear form with capped and faceted swan-neck spout, high domed cover with molded bands and baluster finial, engraved on base MRB, marked each side of handle AB in oval.
Catalogue Note
A similar teapot by Bancker but with a concave section above the lower body is in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts (Puig et al. 1989 no. 189, p. 231).
Adrian Bancker (1703-1772) was the son of the mayor of Albany, and himself married in 1728/29 the daughter of a former governor of CuraƧao. He became a freeman in 1731. He was a deacon in the Dutch Church, and from 1733 to 1766 was collector of the South Ward. In 1766 he advertised as being on Bridge Street, near the Exchange.
