Catalogue Note

Ballantrae was foaled at Egerton House near Newmarket, England in 1899 out of Abeyance by Ayrshire.   William Collins Whitney, father of renowned horseman Harry Payne Whitney, brought her to the United States.  She was a great-great grandmother of the legendary Seabiscuit and great grandmother of Harry Payne Whitney’s Equipoise.
