Lev Samoilovich Bakst, 1866-1924

A design for Yvonne Reynolds as Suzy in Act 2, scene 8 of Aladin ou la lampe merveilleuse, a 'fairy story' in three acts and 11 scenes by Rip (georges Tehnon), which had it's public dress rehearsal on the 20th May 1991 at the Theatre Marigny, Paris.

In Aladin there is a scene on music, another on fashion, and another on Bolshevism...One of the scenes was a fancy dress party in the style of Louis XIV (Alexander Schouvaloff, Leon Bakst: The Theatre Art, London, 1991, p.197)  See also page 196 on which is reproduced a cartoon from an unidentified newspaper showing characters from the Revue in which this costume can be clearly identfied.
