Catalogue Note

In the early 1900s, Arkhipov painted a series of Northern Landscapes representing nature in muted colors.  Arkhipov clearly became mesmerized by the power, freedom and purity of the landscape, ``… the White Sea, Pomorskie crosses, a topped over vessel, clouds over the water- everything so wonderful, so different,'' exclaimed Arkhipov, `` from that moment on I was so moved by that journey, as if I had arrived at my true home'' (N.I.
